CHILD - Introduction

INTRODUCTION

CHILD ( Caring & Helping Individuals Learn & Develop ) was formed in October 1995 and was fully registered with the Registrar of Societies (1069) in 1998. CHILD is also a member of the Sabah Council of Social Services. The Society was formed to complement the Government's effort in providing special education facilities for children and teenagers. On the management committee are members who subscribe to the universal belief that all children are born equal regardless of their abilities (or disabilities) and have the rights to education and development.

AIMS & ACHIEVEMENTS

Setting up of a learning centre for children who are developmentally delayed
- CitaCita was started in 1996 ( on going );
To create awareness on various learning disabilities faced by children in general ( on going );
To bring to light the importance of basic education for children with special needs;
To setup a resource centre (mini library) for information on various issues and
problems faced by children and teenagers, and individuals with special needs.
